Honoring Dr. Randi Stanulis: A Legacy of Excellence in Medical Education

Last month, we had the privilege of celebrating the retirement of Dr. Randi Stanulis and honoring the remarkable impact she has made on medical and teacher education.

Since joining the Department of Surgery in 2023 as a tenured professor, Dr. Stanulis brought her expertise, passion, and nationally recognized leadership in teaching and learning to our faculty, residents, and learners. Throughout her distinguished career, she has dedicated herself to helping others thrive through mentorship, innovative teaching, and educational scholarship.

Dr. Stanulis helped establish and advance programs including Teaching with CARE, Residents as Teachers, and the Medical Educators Excellence in Teaching cohort, creating lasting opportunities for faculty and trainees to grow as educators and leaders. Her scholarship and advocacy for learner flourishing, professional identity formation, and excellence in teaching have influenced educators far beyond our institution.

Her contributions were recognized nationally with her induction into the American College of Surgeons' Academy of Master Surgeon Educators in 2025, a testament to her extraordinary career and commitment to the field.
